Philosophy
Hi! I’m Kylie and I use she/her pronouns. I am a white, bisexual, cisgender woman living in a larger body. I identify as neurodivergent and have lived experience of OCD, depression, and food and body healing. I love watching movies and cuddling with my two cats, Early (named after the comedian, John Early) and Wizard in my free time.
I utilize a relational and person centered approach to support my clients. I am Health At Every Size (HAES) aligned, queer affirming, and neurodivergent affirming. I love working with clients who struggle with eating disorders or disordered eating, including clients who identify as having Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). I also love working with clients who are interested in exploring their identity or their neurodivergence, or are just looking for a safe space to navigate life stressors and process their experiences. My hope is for clients to gain insight about themselves by exploring how their lived experiences in relationships and broader social systems have impacted their mental and physical health, and feel empowered to move away from behaviors and dynamics that no longer serve them. In your therapy with me, I will offer warmth, insight, and humor to promote healing and help you to meet your goals.
For clients with ARFID, I utilize the Neurodiversity Affirming Model ®. You can learn more about the Neurodiversity Affirming Model ® here. I help clients with ARFID to create safety around food/eating and meet their nutritional needs with safe foods and accommodations. I also help clients process any negative beliefs, harmful experiences, and/or internalized ableism related to having ARFID.
Experience
I received my BA in Sociology from UCLA and my MSW from CSUF. I have worked with clients of all ages with eating disorders and other co-occurring disorders at both the partial hospitalization and outpatient level of care. I also have experience providing mental health support to people of all ages at a LGBT+ community mental health center.
